Interested in Plusnet Extra

I'm interested in Plusnet extra broadband. My only worry is the shaping.

If I download software from download.com will it download at line speed? Same for patches off xbox live etc.

Not sure if download.com is part of their shaping, but would assume it is.

Download.com isn't itself counted as a download server, so will be treated as web traffic (even when downloading). However some content may be hosted on a content distribution network (CDN) such as Limelight or Akamai, in which case it will be shaped as per the download servers.

This is also the case with Xbox Live patches and such - the protocol itself is I believe treated as gaming traffic, however some content is again hosted on CDNs and that will be subject to the same rules as above.

We have Plusnet Extra. 60GB a month is awesome. We have done about 52 so far as only have a few days left.

Do between 5-10GB overnight every night. No one seems to care which is brill!

Came from o2 where they have 20GB limit and 3 months in a row rang me up to shout at me for doing 50GB a month yet were charging us £25 a month where as PN is £17 or something on market 1 area.

We get daily slowdowns but that's the exchange not Plusnet. Won't have to call them unless it's billing as I know what I am doing with ADSL in general (even though I would hope there is never a billing problem, apart from my initial setup where i put in the wrong sort code doh!)
