Disconnected by Peer ?

What specifically does "Disconnected by Peer" mean???

What context?

Gaming? Downloading? Receiving e-mails?

Usually refers to the appropriate server.

That or a knight of the realm has chopped something off.

Ooops! sorry should have been more detailed.

This is when I noticed the Router (this afternoon) had lost connection, I looked in the GUI and saw that under reason for no connection.

Not every time when there is some sort of reset not triggered by me that I get to know the reason i.e. at night or when I am out!

Any light to throw on it now knowing the source?

In this case the 'peer' will be the ISP (not sure what aspect, but will be the PPP connection - PPPoa or PPPoe etc.).

Might be a timeout setting in your router/modem. Might be a bad connection, or a disconnection without an auto-reconnect. Might even be some weird authentication issue (again timeout). Router type, stats and errors might throw a little light on things.
