Thinking of moving to plusnet

Present supplier has moved customer service to India, so looking for new ISP.

Would appreciate general thoughts on Plusnet, and would like to know what their Midnight to 8am free download is like (any throttling etc).

Do prices vary much on package selected over time (as present supplier never varies the price)

Plusnet's (ADSL) prices are generally based on wholesale prices. Not much in the way of upward changes that you won't see from other ISPs.

Prices are based on exchange market (with market 3 being the cheapest). Go to samknows and look up your exchange (Ofcom classification will be at the bottom right of the results). Value market 3 is £6.49 pm. Markets 1 & 2 are more (I think a fiver). With value you get 10GB pm transfer between 8am and midnight. Midnight to 8am is unmetered.

Plusnet Extra: Five quid more than value. Less traffic management. 60GB per month.

Plusnet Pro add-on: Five quid on top of any chosen package. Less traffic management than the value and Extra packages.

I'm on Extra with anytime phone calls. About £29pm all in assuming I don't make silly phone calls. No complaints of late. Generally, it's a trouble-free deal.

I can't speak for the downloads etc in the free period as I start them after midnight automatically and it is always finished when I check again in the morning.
Regarding price changes Plusnet sometimes change prices - usually increases but not always - but they do keep bringing out new products and you need to have marketing emails enabled to be told about it.
Alternatively watch the Plusnet Forums where they are usually announced and always discussed
As a long time customer I am very happy but then again I am typical of the non demanding user - no gaming, no P2P and am on the Value product and my usage hovers between 9 and 10GB per month with a don't exceed cost cap so occasionally at the end of the month I have a few hours at dialup speeds.

Similar here. 20-30GB per month. No P2P or gaming or generally anything huge to download.

At the moment you'll get Market 3 pricing even if you're in a Market 2 exchange.

Don't just make the decision on price - which at PlusNet is remarkably good.
Also consider Customer Care, Reliability, Speed and if you are tied into a contract.

If you are considering other ISPs use the Compare Broadband tool on
Think Broadband to get a representative customer overview.

After a year I am so pleased with PlusNet I have just moved my Telephone line
and Unlimited Anytime from BT. I never thought I would ever move my line rental.

I think Plusnet's service has improved considerably of late. I just picked 6 common ISPs for comparison and Plusnet is second to O2 in every category.

I moved from O2 to Plusnet just a couple of weeks ago following comments made in these forums.

I have been more than happy so far as I now have a higher download allowance (I chose the Extra package for 60Gb) and faster download speeds.

I had a problem with a stuck IP profile which Plusnet sorted out within a day -see link here

Can't answer your question about overnight downloads I'm afraid.

No problem here with plusnet. Quite happy here.

Very happy with Plusnet but can't give answer on overnight downloads.
