Router Setup

Is it possible to set up a Plusnet supplied router from any "Plusnet" ADSL line, or must it be done from the phone line at the address it was posted to?

Depends what you mean by setup. I've used mine at my mates house and he's with BT.

If you mean initial setup for yoour account, I think it has to be done on the line it's intended for - but I could be wrong?

I mean the initial switch on for the first time setup.

I rhink that needs to be done on the line it's intended for - maybe someone knows more?

Now that Plusent routers use TR069 automatic configuration I would expect that you just plug it into the line and it will automatically set itself up for that line.

If you want to configure wireless access etc but don't want to connect to the net just plug it into any computer and don't bother to conenct it to the phone line. Log in from your browser using 192.168.1.254 and the password printed on the label.

PS: Glad to see that wireless networking is now set to WPA as a default.

Just press the full reset button and fill in the login details manually

The TR69 auto setup links the router serial to the account, so it can be done on any line - but will always configure itself to connect to the account the serial is linked to.

That doesn't mean you can't use the router with any other details, just put those details in and it'll connect. Then if you want to set it back up to its default account just factory reset it, plug it in and let it configure itself.
