We are currently investigating a problem that has arisen during maintenance of our traffic management platform. Customers will likely experience slower speeds than normal due to being assigned a default profile.
Our network engineers are investigating this issue and we will provide a further update once we have more information.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the temporary low speeds.

Not keen on the term "DEFAULT PROFILE" is that implying that 0.1mb a second is the default lol

I suppose it's designed to give a minimal working service for necessity tasks, while not overloading the network capacity.
Just tried a 5MB file download via TBB meter. Took around 6 minutes, at 110kbp/s (14KB/s). It's back to the 90s.

Hi all,
Really sorry about this. Some work on the traffic management platform last night/this morning is causing everyone to be issued with the default profile (which is pretty much exactly what Camie is saying ).
Our network engineers are investigating and Jojo's getting an update to the above service status together so that should be up shortly.
We'll make sure to keep you posted.

Did a disconnect/reconnect using the router interface to change gateways and that changed to full speed from nothing would load Didn't work for me, maybe it depends on which gateway you get. Noticed a new update has justybeen posted by PN.
UPDATE
This is an update to our previous post regarding customers experiencing slow speed following last night's Traffic Management maintenance.
As well as slower speeds, customers may now be experiencing data transfer issues, causing web pages not to load and other internet activities to be slow or unresponsive.
Our engineers are continuing to investigate the problem and we will update this service status as soon as we have more information.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may be causing.

It did but only temporarily - I am now seeing the same as the service status said but at least I can actually post here - before I couldn't do anything

Over two hours since it started now - fairly major (near) outage for PlusNet.

I reconnected the modem after seeing that other people were getting faster...
I too seemed to be speedy initially (maybe the first few minutes), but it has all gone slow again.
On pcl-ag06 right now.

Mine is still running, (or should that be crawling?) at a snails pace

It will save you a lot of heartache if you sign up for the Plusnet Service notifications.
I received 2 emails this morning about the problem and so stopped thinking about panic telephone calls to PN or whatever.
The part of the PN web site where you can sign up for the emails is difficult to find so please will a PN person supply the info so others can sign up for the emails.

PN reporting that they've applied a temporary solution.
Speeds seem to be back to normal... certainly OK here.
|
|
|
|
I have just about had enough of PN. I have had a week of multiple disconnections, and though 'Nothing to do with us guv', a complaint magically cleared it up, now 25kBps for most of the morning, which has been happening a lot lately for short periods. As I cannot post in the forum (Banned for stating facts)I feel a MAC coming on.

Obviously the problems in this thread are not the ones you've been experiencing prior to 8.30am today though. Seems whatever casued today's probs are pretty widespread and seem to be on the mend.

Yep, been having problems today myself. And for a while could not access the Plusnet service status page - or this forum - to find out if it was a known issue.
It does seem to be improving, touch wood. Earlier I couldn't even run a speed test, or get pages to load.

My speed dropped to 32bits/sec when I tried to download a one megabyte file. Guess the estimated time!!

Thank you - I actually meant the web page where one can sign up to receive the
Plusnet Service Status emails from
[email protected]
and then if the answer to that could be made into a sticky for the forum I think that we get a lot less unhappy people.

Ah, beg pardon (though the RSS link should work with most mail clients) - there's a signup form for email updates at http://usertools.plus.net/status/email.php

Hi folks,
We've updated our service status a short while back.
Slow speeds/Data transfer (70143) - UPDATE
This is an update to our previous announcements regarding slow speeds.
Although customers are now having their correct traffic management profiles applied, this process is causing some customers to see further slow speeds and time outs. we are actively resetting parts of the platform to speed up this process and hope to resolve the problem soon
We'll update this service status again in the morning unless there are any updates to provide overnight.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may be causing.
Kind regards
Joanne Pilson

Did this affect FTTC as well as ADSLx please? Yes!
Our FTTC line didn't seem to suffer. I'm not there, so can't confirm the exact behaviour, but the wife carried on using the internet, including VoIP calls, without noticing.
The SamKnows results now show that the overnight period had slowdowns (ie the overnight that the original TM platform work was carried out on), but that yesterday had none of the ordinary TM evening slowdown applied - it worked at full speed throughout the day. At least at the test points, anyway.
I guess that was a result of the temporary fix
