Looking to move to Plusnet From Talk Talk

[link to this post]

Can anybody advise if this is a smooth process.

I'm out of my contract with TT and want to be in a position to move to fibre if that option becomes available, so I don't want to be in any contracts.

Thanks,

Matt

Is it TalkTalk LLU, with their phone LLU service as well? Or is it "out of area" TalkTalk. The move is vastly different in the two cases.

It should be unless Talk Talk mess it up
I would suggest letting Plusnet handle it all - don't tell Talk Talk until the move is complete as I assume that you are full LLU and don't need a MAC
The contract has 10 day cancellation but there would be a deferred cost charge if you left before 12 months is up unless you paid it in advance.
Deferred costs are £25 for activation and £40 for buying a router if the Talk Talk one can't be used or you buy a decent one yourself

I'm in a similar position myself.
What router are Plusnet providing at the moment?
And is their usage cap download only, or is it upload+download?

Overnight (midnight to 8am) is totally free - some users are downloading 100's GBs - and there's no fair usage or anything else applied. Does that help?

I moved from TT to Plusnet a month or two ago.

Haven't looked back.

Tech support is WAY better as well.

Moving from TalkTalk LLU to Plusnet ADSL is actually not that difficult. You'd need to follow the instructions here: http://help.talktalk.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/1...

They basically tell you to ring TalkTalk for free on 0870 444 1820, choosing Option 4, then Option 2 and asking them to "cancel my TalkTalk plan".

I would advise asking them what date the cancellation and disconnection of your services will complete on. Then, call Plusnet straightaway on 0800 432 0080 (also a free call) and ask them to activate your services on the date that TalkTalk told you they'd end, this will ensure minimal disruption to your Broadband/Phone. Also mention that you are moving from TalkTalk Full-LLU and that's the date they told you.

Good Luck and tell me whether this has been of any use to you.

Will smile

I've just moved from Sky LLU to Plusnet fibre / phone.

(Almost) seamless process, there CS did everything for me, including contacting Sky (in fact I was advised NOT to contact Sky as it could cause a cease on the line instead of a migration). Fibre was up and running immediately, phone was down for about 6 hours (but I believe Sky turned it off before BT changed it over as when I rang my own number it gave a "network busy" reponse).

Everything seems OK since apart from yesterday when my router had a stale connection and only when I rang CS did I get a recorded message advising me to reboot (there was nothing on the website / service status which there should have been really).

The fibre router I was supplied with is a Netgear WNR1000
