21CN capacity increase

We will shortly be increasing the capacity of our 21CN host links by 1600Mbps. It's these host links that we use to deliver bandwidth to the majority of customers on our 21CN and Fibre services.

We're activating this extra capacity in line with the current budget, customers' usage habits and our projected growth in customer numbers.

It doesn't sound like an awful lot.

If I'm correct in thinking they have two MSILs with the load evenly balanced, from what has been said about half the customers getting a problem if Faringdon hits trouble, then 800Mbps per MSIL? Which is 1.23 20CN Centrals at each of two locations.

OK, they now have FTTC to cope with, but it's a fair amount.

So what does this mean for the ordinary "value" customer?

I presume less likelihood of Plusnet capacity issues (if they hadn't done the increase).
