on the phone faq https://www.johnlewisbroadband.com/faq/#linerental it says
What call features are included?
Our Home Phone services offer Voicemail Standard and 1471 free of charge and Caller Display. Optional call features can be added or amended at any time by visiting the Home Phone control panel.
so one would assume its free of charge as indicated above
But the link below says its an additional cost (scroll to bottom of page then click phone tab)
We also offer a range of call features such as caller display at an additional cost.
https://www.johnlewisbroadband.com/buying-guide/
how very confusing so PN is this feature free or not?

Reading that it says to me that VM and 1471 are free of charge, and caller display is also offered (but not included with the other two as 'free of charge'). Perhaps not as clear as it could be, but it makes sense to me - more than happy to pass on suggestions for an edit to the text on that page though?

thank you, although it reads to me as free of charge, the heading clearly says what's included
surely if is not free it would be mentioned in the next sentence which begins with Optional call features .
also on the home phone price guide https://www.johnlewisbroadband.com/terms/price-guide... there is a dash next to caller id, so how much is this ?

have just been through sign up , which says its free, seems like some of the text needs editing on the site to actually as its free

Hi,
Caller display is free of charge. I can see the slight confusion with the wording of it.
I have flagged this up with the relevant team.

Surely, like BT, Caller ID must be part of the Privacy Package which is included in all Phone Plans. Otherwise you will not be able see who/what is calling to preserve your privacy.

Nope - on Plusnet it is 99p extra

On BT it is chargeable unless you satisfy this criterion - "Get these three calling features absolutely free with your calling plan when you make two calls a month".

I was under the impression that this thread is talking about John Lewis Home Phone; not Plusnet!
PN don't do any Privacy Package so your response is inapplicable to my comment.
Anyway, a PN (who manage JLP BB) rep here has already agreed that Caller ID is free for JLP Home Phone.
Don't be confused that just cuz PN runs JLP BB that the features are identical! In general JLP has extra features over PN for less dosh.

That's Plusnet for you! Well the website is definitely badly worded, and the two reps posting here seem to be contradicting each other.
I agree in this instance - not good.
Edit - I too had forgotten this is the JL website, not PN. That complicates matters as the two could easily be not the same.

Pure boundary condition and irrelevant to this topic.

Perhaps not as clear as it could be, but it makes sense to me Perhaps you are blind to the full stop after "Caller Display" and preceding the optional features. It cannot make sense to anybody or perhaps you are insensible?

Perhaps a tad harsh there? Sorry I did make a mistake though. Caller display is free for JLP customers.

Caller display is free for JLP customers.
If the call features are cheaper for JLP customers, won't this encourage Plusnet customers to migrate.

Look at the line rental costs and the cost for Anytime calls - overall Plusnet is cheaper and that is ignoring the pay 12 months up front line rental

Perhaps a tad harsh there? Perhaps so. But I maintain it was fair comment in view of your unwarranted claim.

The JL packages can almost be considered an extended product set to Plusnet. When one joins JL, they are actually signing a contract with Plusnet.

May be extra features for less on home phone (not yet convinced, will check myself) but when I saw this "Some broadband providers vary their charges according to where you live. We believe all our customers should be treated the same." on the JL Broadband page, it struck me, yes, treated same and charged same, mostly a bit more than PN charges, and a 12 month contract even for the phone.
I went looking just to see if I could get the phone service from JL and add fibre from PN ! (no fibre here yet anyway, so a bit academic, but worth a look)

Hi bob12345,
I have raised this to get this amended, unfortunately our web team team do have a heavy workload and sometimes other things will take priority.
I will chase this up and get it updated ASAP. I will also update you once this has been done.

Surprisingly often, actually - new offers, minor changes to text or banner images plus back end changes that aren't visible when viewing the site, that sort of thing.

This has now been amended and should now make easier reading.
Apologies for the wait with this.
