Is anyone else getting the issue that streaming iplayer etc between 9 and midnight is suffering poor performance?
I only get it during these times and have good speed (around 10Mbit downstream) but over the last couple of months the speed is getting worse.
Thanks

What account type are you on and what steaming app/site is it?

Usually when people say iplayer they mean BBC iPlayer!

Sorry, I really wasn't clear. What platform are you streaming iPlayer on? PC/Console/TV ?

Hi
Sorry forgot to swich on notifications. It is usually on a PC and is not just limited to iPlayer - most of the streaming services seem to have similar issues (4OD, Lovefilm etc).
It rarely used to happen before in the evening and it consistently improves around 23:00 onward.
I have scanned around and picked a better channel on WiFi just in case but that has made little difference.

If you download the program and then watch it does it play properly?
I've two PC's and a Panasonic Vierra TV. One PC and the TV can stream iPlayer HD perfectly well, the other PC won't as the CPU maxes out. I'm on 20CN and get similar results as you on the diagnostic.

Just wondering whether iPlayer Desktop and iPlayer streams are fed from same back end systems? I download several GB a night, much of it from BBC, to view when awake (not always in the day!) and I know your post was timed after 2300 and before 0000 (one of the times when the scheduler facility in iPlayer Desktop allows off-peak downloading to be enabled) but it's just a thought...

yep they play fine.It is a pretty hi spec dell precision laptop
It is definitely buffering. As I said if I watch stuff late at night then it is rare if ever I get the issue.
I thought that there was some additional traffic management but I didn't think Streaming was so heavily managed.

You'll need to wireshark it and check it's being put in to the correct queue.

Hi ismoore999,
We are not seeing an increase in such reports. You indicated it started a couple of months ago, can you be a little more specific on roughly then this started?
Can you confirm if you are connecting wirelessly or wired?
If wirelessly, have you tried wired?
As you are using a Dell, I would recommend force disconnecting from wireless as you do this test.
Do you have a ticket number from reporting this or a username I can look at, to see if we can locate anything obvious.
