Do the current TG582n routers have USB ports?

My folks have been with Plusnet for years and there current router is playing up.

They're currently on an old legacy product with a 15gb usage allowance and I was going to upgrade them to Broadband Extra at £11.49 (currently paying about £15 a month) and at the same time get a new router.

Does anyone know if the current routers supplied have the USB port as that would be useful?

I notice the router is on a 12 month deferred contract and they're unlikely to move away from Plusnet in that time but does anyone know the costs if they did? I've seen £40 and £60 mentioned.

The ADSL variant does not have a USB port.


The deferred cost is £40 if you leave within the first 12 months.

Did the ADSL versions used to have a USB port? Just debating looking for a secondhand one with the port as it would be useful for them to have.

Am I right in thinking that the fibre and adsl versions have different firmware?

Hmm. My one was supplied in the Spring and has a USB port. Is it not an ADSL model?

They used to have a USB port, however this was removed around July.

Yes they did - I'm staring at mine now and the printer is definately plugged into it!

If you obtain a replacement router you are not limited to the Thomson / Speedtouch rubbish - you can get a more normal device which has a "normal" UI rather than the wierd Speedtouch one!

Beware of ISP customised ones. These devices are not expensive - look on the likes of Amazon etc as well as eBay.
