Can you keep the PN phoneline while migrates its Fibre out?

[link to this post]

As said in the title above, I wish to take up PN's unlimited Fibre and phone package from my existing O2 ADSL2+ Broadband and BT phone for free activation of their fibre. However, would I be able to a) keep the PN's phone line while migrating the fibre only to another ISP if I so wish to in near future once my contract is up, and b) can I do it "vice versa" for phone instead?
Thanks

a) I believe so. It certainly used to be the case. Unless you can find it in the huge mass of Help and FAQs, waiting for one of the reps to pick this up is best. All I can find is the opposite - that to have the phone you must have PN broadband,
Plusnet Broadband Phone Service Terms

Provision of Service
1.The Service is currently only available to customers of Plusnet's broadband services.
but AIUI that refers to joining.

b) Seeing as you don't have to have PN phone to have PN fibre, I can't imagine there would be any problem. Whether you had to wait 12 months, or the full 18 month fibre minimum term is another question.

Thank you for your speedy reply! Your previous line:
Plusnet Broadband Phone Service Terms

Provision of Service
1.The Service is currently only available to customers of Plusnet's broadband services

seems to suggest that I CANNOT keep the PN's phone IF I wish to migrate its PN's fibre only elsewhere to other ISPs in near future! That means my previous question a) is No. It also seems that keep my current BT phone line is more "independent", but slightly more expensive, even for taking up PN's fibre except that I will certainly lose current PN's FREE fibre activation advantages!!!

Thanks

As I said, that FAQ may apply only to joining, as it was always the case that you couldn't just order the phone side. No doubt a rep will clarify in time smile.

It says:
The Service is currently only available to customers of Plusnet's broadband services.
not:
Provision of the Service is currently only available to customers of Plusnet's broadband services.
so it reads that PN phone is never available w/out BB.

But none of this is really relevant because RobertoS quoted information relating to the Broadband Phone Service which is their VoIP service. smile

I've raised a ticket asking - but the answer may be a while.

Hi all,

No, I'm afraid it's not possible to have a phone only with us. As alluded to previously it would either need to be broadband or dual play (phone and broadband).

Thanks Adam. That is definitely a change though.

As a point of interest, is there anywhere in the FAQs or T & Cs where it says you can't keep it? Obviously you can't order it by itself, but ...?

Adam, thank you for making that clear to me! RobertoS, many thanks for raising the "ticket" regarding to clarify whether to be able/not able to keep the PN phone without the fibre broadband in near future!

Plusnet Talk Service Terms

2. The Talk Service terms and Price guide operates independently to the Broadband Service terms and Price guide. Any change to these terms do not impact your Broadband Terms and any changes to your Broadband Terms do not impact these Talk terms.
But I don't see PN Talk as a product on their site. Did they ever?

It also seems that keep my current BT phone line is more "independent", but slightly more expensive

Acknowledge you lose advantage of internet + phone line/calls package deals PN does, but have you considered Primus (just for the line). A lot depends on your calling pattern as to best option, but for a simple cheap line rental deal with no "included calls" (I just use 1899.com for the few calls made, and when I do call 01/02/03 it's a flat 5p, no matter if it is 5 minutes or 5 hours) then Primus may serve. No problem using PN as ISP (it's what I'm using now, submitting this post).

Yes, there's a minimum contract, but even during that you'd pay less per month (and be paying monthly) than the 'lump sum in advance' 'discount' deals that BT and others offer.

I don't know what the minimum fee is nowadays - possibly around 8 quid a month, but it does get mention on MoneySavingExpert.com and elsewhere (though obviously you will want to avoid any phone line/calls + internet deals they are currently pushing).

Thank you for your suggestion! However, regarding to Primus I am afraid I will give it a miss as I heard a lot of horrible stories from Forum such as "Review Centre.com".

Thanks for that. Looks interesting. Might use them for 2 or 3 free months, then switch back to Primus at 6.99/month (and the cost, at 1.25/month {PN please note!} for remainder of 12 month contract, makes the time spent with them cost between 4 and 6 quid per month, depending on duration)!
