Hi
I've just gone from BE Adsl to fibre with Plusnet & used to be able to see my synch rate stats page from here:
192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?be=0&l0=2&l1=0
With fibre & the 582n I get a page showing:
Link Status: Disconnected
DSL Type: N.A.
Can anyone tell me how to get the router stats please?

Unfortunately as the modem handles that part of the connection, you don't have (easy) visibility to the router stats. There are ways to do it but none that we can officially say (plus they depend on which modem you got from the engineer)

Perhaps you could unofficially PM me the information?
BTW Delighted by the speed - thanks

I'm pretty sure there's a program called RouterStats that will get the info for you. Perhaps someone else can help you a little more?

Which modem?

Batboy - it's the 582n PN one on Fibre

It depends on which modem the engineer left you really, the older one is apparently quite simple to get the stats from.

I'm pretty sure there's a program called RouterStats that will get the info for you. Perhaps someone else can help you a little more? Not from a cable router that doesn't know them itself. The modem is locked down and inaccessible - though the OP now has the link to the unlocked firmware.

Many thanks - I won't do that for now as I've only just got online with the modem. Looks quite an effort to get the line stats

Not really. All you have to do is load a new firmware onto the modem and the stats are available by telnet or the web GUI.
|
|
|
Yes but to do so, you have to reboot the modem, won't that effect DLM?

Well, no not unless you reboot like 10 times a day. And not at all on the first day as DLM kicks in on the 2nd day. But apart from curiosity, there's really no point unless you're unhappy with your connection (or with BT remote throttling )

What you can do is run the BT Performance Test, and when it finishes look for the Diagnostics button on the left at the bottom. Click that.
That tells you the downstream IP Profile. Divide that by 0.9679 and you get your connection speed within a few kbps.

Thanks I know about that page. I can see the uptime of the 582n on this page:
192.168.1.254/cgi/b/is/_pppoe_/dt/?be=0&l0=2&l1=2&name=Internet
So, that gives an indication of disconnects. I'm just really after ensuring my new connection is stable. I have tried setting up the Broadband Quality Monitor. Had to set a rule in the windows firewall to allow pings to get it to (hopefully) work.

?
Two things there.
It isn't wise to run the BQM unless you have a static IP address. Dynamic addresses on Plusnet change very easily. The BQM does warn you on setup. Do you have one? £5 one-off fee.
Also if you have it on a dynamic IP and your IP changes, someone else soon get that address and the thinkbroadband system doesn't know it isn't you any more. That could mess up the new holder.
Second - the ping is to the router. It's in the GUI setting there that you have to enable replies. It doesn't get to your machine so the Windows firewall isn't relevant. In fact, I'd set that back to whatever it was. Just in case.

Thanks very much for the info. I did enable the ping in the router, which I've now reset. I wanted to run the graph for 12 hours just to see if there were any red lines (which their were not! I've deleted the rule in the firewall I set (in error).
Thanks again
