Why a MAC?
Im leaving Sky FU for Plusnet UF and both parties said it is not needed (changeover on the 13/03/13). I hope they're not wrong.

If you are Fully LLU'd then no,no Mac Code will be given because it falls outside the Mac code system scope, only BTW and SMPF LLU (ADSL ONLY)connections, safeguarded by the Mac code
So if you are FU then the gaining provider will have to have the line transfared back to the BTW system, then they will be able to place your FTTC order,Unlikely that both with active on the same day, as normally the BTwholesale data base has to update before any isp can place an order for xDSL products , So unless Plusnet have some way around this your line and telephony service will switch to plusnet on that day, but be prepared for a wait maybe only a few days before the order can be placed, then the normal process of being given a FTTC install date

Just got off the line to Plusnet and they confirmed that i need a MAC from my old supplier... If you are fully LLU'd with sky then the Mac code system is not applicable, plusnet would need to do a return to donor order basically, to get your line re connected or whatever needs doing before broadband services can be ordered on this line, and as result of the line being disconnected from sky's llu any active broadband will not be present on the line after plusnet have had it transfered to them
But if you are SMPF Broadband only is on sky's LLU then yes the mac code process would apply and sky are obligated to supply you one upon your request
Possibly the easiest way of you finding out if your line is full or partial llu is to input your telephone number into the bt wholesale adsl checker, if Full llu's it will not give any speed estimates for your line,
failing that run a tracert and if the 1st hop after the router is an Easynet.net switch, then you most probably will be only SMPF partial LLU so would there fore require a Mac code

Or dial 17070 and see if "Zoe" answers.

roughly how long should it take to change from Sky Fibre to Plusnet?
|
|
|
Probably around 1 to 2 weeks.
Oliver.

Took us a week for our Plusnet Unlimited Fibre to be activated, coming from Sky adsl2+ llu, with our phone still provided by BT.
So maybe a couple of weeks in your case

Hi Guys,
To get this thread back on topic?
Do we now know if there will be a 6 month fibre deal on Monday, or should I order on the 3 month deal today?
Thanks

Sorry, my crystal ball is on the blink, you're going to have to make a decision on your own

They would probably do well to fix the ongoing latency and throughput issues before throwing out too many more deals.

What are these issues? Getting worried now? Was going to choose Plusnet over BT, but you have me worried now!

I have been seeing dodgy plusnet graphs for 2-3 months or so now.
BT Infinity 2 Since Dec 2012 - Estimate 65.9/20 - Attainable peak 110/36 - Current Sync 71/20

The 6 months half price deal is back on with Quidco/Topcashback £38 cashback... Gutted just put my order in on Sunday for 3 months half price and cashback.
Guess the only way id get that deal now is to cancel and reorder which would be a lot of work for £30 oh well it was still a decent deal at the time and was worried that I was going to miss out on any deal altogether.
Just hope the service is good and p2p and Usenet are not capped as i have read some many conflicting comments.
