Pro on FTTC Unlimited

[link to this post]

Is it worth it? What does it actually offer?

I seem to be getting max speeds all of the time so far.

It was designed for the earlier packages rate-limited at various times of day, (now legacy but lots still around). It removed the rate limiting.

The current Unlimited products are not rate-limited at any time.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.2/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

From the sounds of it, Pro on FTTC Unlimited could only be detrimental to your line. I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're already getting max speeds all the time.

Not everyone is on the unlimited packages Max. And some on them may still want it, as for a single-user household I think it could confer a slight benefit.

Many-user households are almost certainly better without it to my mind.

Well no max....it's not pointless because not everyone is on fibre obviously.

Then you are wrong. Pro does have a point for anyone on Plusnet Essentials Fibre.

Technically it could be a point for anyone on essentials/unlimited, but I already read about people on essentials getting max speeds with things such as P2P etc anyway, hardly worth the extra fee unless you are really fussy.

It entirely depends on the individual user's desires! It isn't surprising you read about people getting full P2P speed, given the short periods any restrictions apply anyway. See the tables on this page.

Not sure why you took out unlimited you are missing the point, correct yes hence why if you want higher priority P2P on Unlimited, it still applies like I said if you really want to. I don't need to see the tables I'm already a PN customer.

If you are doing nothing else Pro does not increase P2P on Unlimited by a single bit per second.

What it will do is increase the probability that P2P will [censored] up other things you run at the same time.

Pro on essentials removes the rate limits at peak on P2P. There are no rate limits to lift on Unlimited at peak.

It flattens the QOS tier from Best Effort, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Titanium to only Gold and Titanium on all products.
