Netgear WNR1000 or Technicolor TG582n for FTTC

I was connected to FTTC last June and received the Netgear router, I was upgraded to the faster FTTC last November sometime.

Plusnet now supply the Technicolor TG582n router for FTTC
How do the two makes of router compare with the higher range of FTTC service.
Why did PN change the router supplied - was it a matter of economics or performance?
