New FTTC connection

Hi

I was switched to FTTC yesterday.

Received new router today in the post, TG582n. The same as the one I already had! I only joined PlusNet 3 months ago in anticipation of FTTC being available soon after.

Did I really need a new router? I was asked to pay £5.99 P&P.

Was on 37/40 yesterday. Upgraded today, now getting 72/80. About 300m or so from the cabinet. Is this as expected?

the router has different firmware - you could have used the original one if you were prepared to flash the firmware - however when moving to fibre the router isn't an option so you are stuck with it

Was just a little confused to see the same router arrive!

Seemed wasteful.

Can't complain jumped from 4Mb to 72Mb!
