Just thought i'd be closer to the 20 than what i am.

Have you got an unlocked Huawei modem?

If so, you can get a little more out of the upstream sync that you already have, by turning off the QoS setting.

On my 20Mbps sync, that lifts my throughput speeds from around 17.5Mbps to around19Mbps.

You might find it lifts you around in proportion, though it might not.

Don't rely solely on the BT speedtest results, What does this sites speedtest report, ?

or try some of the servers via Speedtest.net , or by using FTP to upload something

Also does the speed or processing power of the CPU or the lan network settings of the PC sending the data not play a part in upload speeds ?

Ok, since the line went funny yesterday noticed a drop in performance

Just saw your post. I had an issue where the upload speed dropped from 17Mbps to 6.9. This was a fault at the cabinet. If this happened only recently you may want to follow it up?

My upload as never been good or near the 20 it says on my profile.
I'll keep an eye on it thanks.

All 80/20 FTTC connections from all non-LLU ISPs have an upstream IP Profile of 20Mbps. It isn't coupled to the speed at all. just the Openreach product.
