Hi all
When with Orange a few years ago, the IP address changed when you switched off (and on) the router. Is it the case with PlusNet too ?
Thanks in advance.

If you're on a dynamic IP with us, then yes. The IP will change each time your connection disconnects/reconnects.

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

Yes, but you can buy a static IP for £5 one-off.

Yes, but you can buy a static IP for £5 one-off. I think that is only on the unlimited products. I'm possibly wrong, as it doesn't mention that in the price list.

That's correct, on residential accounts it's only Unlimited that allows a static IP.

I think that is only on the unlimited products. Didn't think many peeps bought Essentials these days, but I'm told a lot of pensioners buy it

If, like me, you can only get download speeds as high as 2 Mbps when downhill and with a following wind, there seems little point in paying for more than essentials.
Though I am, of course, a pensioner and therefore non compos mentis and undeserving of anything better

Though I am, of course, a pensioner and therefore non compos mentis and undeserving of anything better Yes, that was my initial reaction when told this by PN sales support, but on balance accepted that they gave a suitable reason that pensioners mostly tend not to download reams of stuff. We techie pensioners are in a minority but I think we both fit that profile and do not download more than 10-20 GB pm.

The one with the "S" says he struggles to reach 10GB total of peak & off-peak. But I've got unlimited as it lets me have a static IP for the BQM, covers me for any change of usage pattern, and only costs £2.50pm extra.

It wasn't long ago that I never exceeded 10GB a month, and for several years I was limited to 5GB on Madasafish. The last two months have each been 163GB and I doubt it will be long before I hit the old 250GB limit.
