A friend is interested in moving from TalkTalk LLU to Plusnet, but he has been told that he will have to have a new line connection and his current phone number cannot be ported.
Has he been told the truth?

BT (poor) -> Zen (excellent) -> O2 (started well, went downhill -> IDNet (waiting to see)
I moved from full LLU , same product as TT LLU but different ISP, did it all online, number ported over, no new line required. No problems whatsoever plus cashback!
We can only port a number back from an LLU supplier if it was ported in from BT to the LLU provider beforehand - if it was issued by the LLU supplier I'm afraid it can't be ported which may be the case here?

Hmm, in that case is he moving house at the same time? I believe numbers can only be ported between lines on the same exchange.
If it's not that please advise and I'll check with our provisioning team to see if there's any other blocks in the way of number porting - suspect there may be :/
