BT are closing down the Talk21 webmail service in September after running it since 1997 when the internet was dialup. You can keep it for a fee though. As PN are part of BT I wonder if there is anyone who might arrange to have this included in the PN service.

Hi Meldrew,
I can't see it happening. Talk21's email platform is entirely separate to ours so it wouldn't be a trivial thing to do.

The fee for the BT Premium Mail service is only £1.60 a month, so hardly going to break the bank.

From September 2001 on BTopenworld Home 500/Home 1000/Home 2000. Then ADSLMax on <n>ildram. Moved to ADSL2+ from ADSL24. I'm now with plusnet. I'm not saying who I work for. Any opinions expressed here are my own.

Oh god, don't say that on the MSE tech forum!
There are people on there ranting at full throttle saying how it is massive and should be on the evening news, demanding that OFCOM step in.....and so on.

Mind you, the thought of actually paying to use an email service provided by Yahoo is quite amusing.

It's not going to be provided by Yahoo for much longer...

I suspect Talk21 accounts will not be migrated to BT's new platform, and will stay on Yahoo.

Nope, it's all going.

Not really that bothered but not paying for it on principle! Have migrated it all over to a Thunderbird client and waiting with baited breath to see if it really does get switched off.
It was useful for Amazon and Ebay etc and more accessible than Hotmail so will be sad to see it go nevertheless.
P S How about some useful extensions to PN such as adding in some roaming wifi?

I did, but have had to use an alternative now. I am not paying for an email hosted on the Yahoo platform.
A shame really, because I liked it.

My step-father has a Talk21 email address.
Only problem is he hasn't cracked how to get anything other than Microsoft card games to work on the computer - even then manages to get it wrong.
Shall I send him an e-mail to tell him?
