Upgrade from Essentials to Unlimited FTTC for just a month?

I was wondering if it was possible for a customer with Essentials FTTC who is out of contract, to upgrade to Unlimited FTTC for a month, dropping back to Essentials after that?

I think not - pretty sure it will be a new 18-month contract as it was for me when I changed to Unlimited.

Actually I could be wrong, because Essentials and Unlimited are both current products, whereas I changed from a previous product when the new Unlimited product launched.

After calling PN I've been told that it's impossible to change for just a month, and even if I am happy to sign up to a new 18 month contract to go to the Unlimited product, it'd only take effect after the next billing date, which is about a month away. Yay...

It's my mother's connection, and as I'm here for month or so before uni starts up again, I'm currently burning through her 40GB rather speedily (so much Netflix..), so being able to upgrade to unlimited for the month would be rather useful. Having said that, considering at current rates we're talking about 5 days before I hit the cap, being able to upgrade immediately even if it came with a new 18 month contract, would still be better.
