I've still got a holding date of 31-Mar-14 on the Openreach site (it changes every year, shifting from 31-Mar-12 to 31-Mar-13 to 31-Mar-14). There's a message below it saying:
"FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- Sorry it's taking us longer than planned to get your cabinet ready for service. Please bear with us."
Have I got any options at all (if I want to go faster than ADSL)?

A second ADSL line and bond them.
If you've no Virgin Media cable available and no fixed line wireless solutions that's about it.

I mean, there's no point hassling PlusNet, obviously. Is there any point trying to get hold of Openreach? Or are they not customer-facing?

They are not customer-facing but see http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/faq/

Openreach's customers are the ISPs/SPs/CPs. Not end users. They treat most of their customers petty badly, which doesn't help even the good ISPs help us .

I think it time for Openreach should deal directly with the customer end, not the ISP. I don't know why all the fuss that Openreach cannot speak to the customer end. Pretty bad.

If OpenReach had to deal with customers directly they'd spend all their time responding to stupid unnecessary requests for SNR resets, changes of target noise margin etc. and even less time dealing with actual problems. Having the ISPs etc front-ending filters out the stupid requests.
(I'm just thinking of a case on the Plusnet Community forums where someone asked for their target noise margin to be set to 2dB! )

assume for now you are not getting anything until 2015. If it then comes earlier then happy days..., but I am putting my 1p down for the 25th April 2015. on your cabinet.

Thanks, I'll email them, and I'll look forward to the copy and paste reply they send me
O2 home broadband (18.2meg sync)
Really!? lol
I got no chance of fibre and I get 7.. you luck y [censored]!
Seriously I hope that you get an upgrade - just because your area gets it does not mean you will. my area is live and all the cabs around me are live too - apart from mine
Thanks Why haven't you got any chance of fibre? If it's just your cab that's waiting for upgrade, it shouldn't be too long now. My whole exchange isn't fibre-ready. And yeah, I used to get 18 sync on O2, it's now 20 sync on PN (with throughput of 16 on a good day).

I think you may be right but maybe 2015 is optimistic.

If you want to see what I meant go have a read of this topic on the Community forums: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,1184...
The idiot that asked for the 2db target noise margin, having been told that this was not an option and that 3db, 6db, 9db, 12db or 15db on the downstream were the only settings available has come back with the same request again. He seems to accepted that the answer is no, but knowing the posters past form there's a strong chance he'll ask again in a week or so.
How the Plusnet guys have the patience to keep their cool when faced with the likes of that user defeats me!

I know that Plusnet cannot tweak snr of 2 or even 1 at their end but they just take BT Wholesale ruling eg: 3,6,9,12,15 and 18dB target only. I have to tweak it myself anyway.

You can tweak any modern car's engine management system yourself as well max. But don't expect an authorised dealer of the make to do it for you, or to honour the warranty if it causes you problems.

Ok I won't tweak too much or otherwise the DLM at the exchange will increasing SNR if I tweak it too much lower.

Unlike BB, you can't tweak the system, wreck the engine and then retweak it back to normal and expect the engine to work again
