Plusnet DNS

I've noticed that many of the posters on Thinkbroadband who are with plusnet use an alternate DNS service ( such as OpenDNS ). While it has been well posted on this site that using an alternative to TalkTalks DNS is advised, is the same benifit to be had regards Plusnet?

I always set one of the DNS servers to a non Plusnet one to cater for problems

I'm not aware of any particular problems with Plusnet's DNS, but I also don't know why you would want to use any ISP's DNS when there are better alternatives.

One alternative DNS service i highly recommend is OpenNIC Project

Apart from a couple of experiments for a few days many years ago, I've always used my ISP's DNS servers and never had a problem.

How can others be better anyway? Presumably they all auto-update.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.2/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

They can be better by being faster, more resilient, providing extra facilities such as customized filtering or, in the case of OpenNIC, no filtering, phishing/malware protection and probably other things I haven't thought of.
