Asking for a MAC does not guarantee you are leaving, so how can they work out the termination charge? If you "cancelled" your contract, which means the expected leaving date is known, then they could. In which case there is a fair chance a
Cease order will have been placed on your broadband. If it has, a MAC cannot be obtained from Openreach.
No-one should ever tell their ISP they are cancelling. Nearly all support staff will take that as stated, not as intended.
