Nope - it is confusing
12 months at £1.99 then a further 12 month contract at £9.99
However - and this is interesting - if they increase the base price part way through and the 12 months at£9.99 aren't kept then there is a get out of jail free card
From the legal bit At the end of the minimum period of 12 months you will remain on your Plusnet Weekends, Anytime or Anytime International 300 phone package and Plusnet Unlimited Broadband package and pay the standard rental charges currently £9.99 per month plus line rental. You must stay on this package for 12 months or you will have to pay an early termination charge relating to the period remaining on your contract.

That's well buried, and extremely sneaky, since most people would define as "12 month contract" as being able to leave in month 13 without penalty. As it is, it looks like two 12 month contracts bolted together from the small print, aka 24 month contract.
A sign of things to come under Andy Baker perhaps.

For me on a Market1 exchange, what will this cost me during and after the offer ends? + £7 each month, i.e. £8.99 for 12 months then £16.99.
@RobertoS: I read it that he wants price of product, not cost of leaving product early..

There's no way a 12 month contract can actually be a 24 month contract. I think you are misreading it.

Hopefully that's the case.
The way they started the paragraph off with "At the end of the minimum period of 12 months..." makes the paragraph read as though the contents of the paragraph is what happens after the initial 12 months (i.e. 12 months after 12 months).
As is often the case with Plusnet, their wording is ambiguous and confusing, but they might raise an "internal ticket" and word it better in a few months time I suppose.

No I am not
This seems very shifty then, with the bold header saying "Plusnet Unlimited broadband £1.99 for the first 12 months then £9.99 a month 12 month contract".
Have you raised this with Plusnet staff? Have you had confirmation?

I think you are.
For instance, the same paragraph that you quoted also appears under the next package "Plusnet Unlimited Fibre broadband £11.99 for the first 4 months then £19.99 a month 18 month contract"
How long do you think the contract for that package is - 3 years?

No, you are misreading it, altho' it is not very clear.
You are misreading the highlighted part as ' You must stay on this extension/continuation for 12 months, but it refers to the package as a whole. It is unfortunate that the highlighted sentence is in the same para as the 'end of minimum period' statement; it would have been clearer if that sentence was included in 1 of the earlier paras or in a para of its own.
With your interpretation this product can only be legally and logically described as 'Plusnet Unlimited broadband £1.99 for the first 12 months then £9.99 a month 24 month contract'. Furthermore it is nonsense to say a minimum period of 12 months lasts for 24 months; it corrupts the word 'Minimum'.

Plusnet staff.....please can you confirmed if that offer are both 12 months contract @ £1.99 then another 12 months @ £9.99 total contracted is 24 months.
This sound a misleading advertisment. But, Ofcom ruling say you can leave in half way contract if plusnet decided to rise the price either £1.99 or £9.99 during their 12/24 months contract. But, crafty Plusnet are cheeky clever smart as the offer end 18th December 2013 and the ofcom ruling come into force in 2014. So, it wouldn't count against ofcom ruling.
I think ASA would look into this.

Why reply all this balderdash to me?
There is nowt for ASA to look into just cuz y'all cannot read English.
Most special offers are a reduced price for n months followed by standard price thereafter.

Really??!? He's been here a week and this offer was in the pipeline well before that, let's give him a chance before we start with the conspiracy theories!

It's a 12 month contract where the price increases to the normal £9.99 cost after that. Once the initial 12 months are up we just need a standard notice period of cancellation/.

[censored] hell - that is financial suicide
So what are the cancellation charges as they clearly can't be more than the charge per month

its not if the customer stays, you dont seem to have much faith in customers to retain just from been happy
although I think with the offer even if they stayed I be surprised if its profitable after 24 months unless lots of voice services used.

Fair enough, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he employs people to look after the website who know the difference between "no contract" and "no minimum term".
I have my doubts though.

It's a valid strategy to attract new custs. PN will know from experience that only a minority will leave at end of 12 months. After all, £10 pm for unlimited BB is cheap; peeps spend 3 to 5 times as much on their mobiles. So what are the cancellation charges as they clearly can't be more than the charge per month Why not? Is there a law against that? It's £5.50 per cancelled month + whatever it is for the phone.

They are also offering existing market 1 customers ( who are out or nearly out of minimum term) unlimited broadband at 5.99 a month ( normal price £16.99) on a 24 month contract, obviously you have to have landline with them as well.
I don't know how they can afford to do it , and keep investing

I don't know how they can afford to do it , and keep investing BT are awash with money. They make money via Openreach for the Local Loop, money via BT Wholesale from most ISP's and money via BT Consumer and BT Business retail.

Are you sure about this ? I have just re-negotiated my deal, but it was £9.99 for unlimited, or £8.99
for 10GB. I do have pe paid LR with them.
I am Market 1 victim for 10 years now (with Plusnet), how much extra has that cost me ?

You are RIGHT !
Raised a question yesterday, agreed above terms today, starting Jan.,so that is great response.
However I note with concern that other PlusNat custome may not know about it,
and could well be paying £11 more for 24 months = whoping £264 !
But that's sems to be the norm today, keep checking all the gas, ely, phone, insurance deals
etc. all the time, or you get shafted !

Martin

EXTREMELY useful info. I recontracted last June for 12 months on Market 1 @ £8.49 pm. I'll have to remember this stellar deal when I negotiate next June! Should be very useful with TalkTalk and Sky LLU also available.
