Confusion arises

.
I hope you didn't really mean a "Managed install". Rather, an "Engineer install".
An engineer install is what all except one ISP have done so far. The one exception being BT Retail, with Infinity.
With an engineer install, the engineer fits the VDSL2 interstitial filtered faceplate to the master, with the option to move the master or provide an alternative location for the modem position using the "Home Wiring Solution (aka
Data Extension Cable)" if that has been ordered by the ISP. They then test the connection between the VDSL socket and the FTTC cabinet. (I expect they also see that the modem sync's).
Connecting the router and getting onto the internet is down to the user and the ISP.
A "Managed install" is as an engineer install, but the engineer also connects the router and checks that the internet can be accessed.
The only ISP I know of that orders the Home Wiring Solution by default is BT Retail, although it is free with all ISPs.
