As advised, I will post my problems here. Where to start. Two years ago my local exchange was upgraded from BT 20CN to BT 21CN. My wonderful LinkSys Router was not compatible so PlusNet sent me a Thompson Router. I was rather surprised to find that most of the time I was getting, Download of 7 - 8 Mbps and an Upload of 700 - 800 Kbps.
A year ago, for reasons I cannot recall, I was sent a new Router (Technicolor). It must have been because of drop-outs or poor speed.
I was aware I had problems again about 2 - 3 months ago but not the time to chase it up.
BT (OpenReach) visited yesterday and said (after testing) that my line was 100%.
Not sure if it is relevant but I purchased a twin handset BT 7600 phone on 16th December 2013 and installed it immediately. I have intermittent noise on the phone which is sometimes very quiet, sometimes very noticeable and sometimes not at all. I do not recall having noise on the phone during the last two weeks of December 2013.
PlusNet have confirmed that during January, I have had the Broadband connection terminated and then restarted.
My average download is now 5.25 Mbps and Upload of 500 Kbps or 600 Kbps and I have seen 800 Kbps. That download speed is something I have not experienced (until recently) since the exchange was upgraded and that was more than 2 years ago.
I believe in days gone by my sync speed was over 7 Mbps, it is now 5.66 Mbps.
Help!

Hi Nolly,
Can you post your line stats from your router?

Hi Kr1s69. Not sure exactly what you want. Would you please talk me through how to get the stats.
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm not familiar with your router, but you seem to know how to get your sync speed, so getting the full set of line stats shouldn't be too difficult.
You need to login to your router and in the status or statistics section find:
Line attenuation
Noise margin (or SNR margin)
Connections speed
For all 3 you should see values for upstream and downstream.

(First, just information. Technicolor bought Thomson many years ago, and a bit ago changed the name on the routers from Thomson to Technicolor. Apart from changes between models, Thomson = Technicolor ).
As well as your downstream sync speed, please could you post the upstream, plus the SNR?Noise margin and Attenuation down and up.
Was your previous telephone a corded one, or cordless? (This is to do with a diagnostic test one of us will come to soon).

Hi, I logged into my Router and check several times but I cannot see anything about stats.
I have been running thinkbroadband speed test and I installed ttbmeter about 2 hours ago. Also used the ping/quality tool. I have also been running the speedtest.btwholesale.com test.

Hi, Both the old and new twin handset phones are cordless. Don't know where to look for the required information.

I don't use my Plusnet router any more, so going from memory, but on the page where you got the sync speed isn't there a Details button at the top right?
