Once a call from anywhere gets into the BT PSTN network, from thereon it is handled in the same way on its way to your home as any other call. The fault has to be where the call is fed into that network.

It has to be an issue at the originating end. A question - by Three it seems you mean a mobile call. What about the TalkTalk? Landline or mobile?

I agee with you, getting an engineer out at your end is pointless and could cost you, as well as being a PITA wrt time off work.

Then I wonder why it only appears to affect one line. I have no problems calling my Plusnet landline from a 3 mobile.

I'm thinking of the base station, or where the mobile signal to landlines gets transferred to Openreach. That probably varies geographically.

OK, Woodley, (not woodley park ?) that's my exchange. Not aware of any issues in the area. I'd suggest you cancel the appointment, Openreach will bill Plusnet, and Plusnet will bill you. If anyone is at fault, it's BT Wholesale.

I wonder if TT and 3 use the same voice carrier at some point ? TT at a guess.
When I do answer the phone, I can hear the calling party clearly, but they cannot hear me for the crackle on the line.

The fault has nowt to do with you, your line, or your service provider.

Hi there,

To get this looked into from our perspective it is going to require an engineer visit. We'd not need to send the engineer to your premises, it would be a case of getting them to the exchange and checking things over there(we just need to give detailed notes for the engineer.)

Do you know if the people who call you who are on TT are able to call other people on the BT network OK? Also have you tried this on your Three network?

Three - mobile call
TalkTalk - Landline on the THWDY exchange.

Hi Chris,

I would be very happy if you could arrange this. You'll see the PlusNet ticket number at the start of this thread. In there, I have stated the Three mobile number, and the TalkTalk landline number which cannot call my line, due to static.

The TalkTalk customer - my Mum smile - says she has no problem calling anyone else. I would guess that this will include BT customers.

I am not sure what you're asking me to try. Calling my PlusNet line from my Three mobile is still crackling at the Three end. At the PlusNet end, the call is clear, but of course the Three caller cannot hear what the PlusNet end is saying!

I am in and out of meetings, but available for most of today on my mobile, if you'd like to call me to discuss how we get the problem fixed.

Many thanks!

Jonathan.
