First 10 days of fibre broadband � line speed

Hi all,

My cabinet has finally been enabled with fibre broadband, and I've signed up. I know that the first ten days are when the speed is determined. Is there anything I can do at my end to ensure I get the best speed? Using/not using my computer? Plugging comp in to router instead of using wifi etc...

Also, for the geek in me, is there any way of finding out the exact date my cabinet was fibre enabled? (I want to see how quickly I got in after it was enabled!). I know, I know

What you do on your PC will make no difference. It is the connection between the modem and the exchange that is significant - as long as you don't keep rebooting the modem and you are happy that the phone wiring is ok then it doesn't matter what you do on your PCs/phones/etc.

And the 10 days is I believe irrelevant on fibre anyway. The line monitoring is now a permanent thing and will continuously check status of the connection and adjust settings as needed.

There is no 10 days on Fibre.

Not very accurate, less accurate if your previous provider was LLU or the line has never had a broadband service on it, , although for some addresses it can be fairly accurate , i suppose it is pot luck really,

First three weeks after my first installed of FTTC I am getting 72/17 but (last week between 8pm and midnight was down to slow speed) nothing to do with my fibre or the line. It's just problem at BT node network but it was ok now (finger cross)

AS you will also already know it's 2 days and it's pretty accurate. For me it said 70-80 down and 13-20 up I get 73/18

That's open to interpretation, as it is known to give somewhat duff info for some lines , mine is one that gets a different estimate than 2 other lines/addresses in the same building , the same results get repeated with a few other nearby properties, all the lines got back to the same PCP , It's designed to give them a easy get out should you get lower speeds, although such estimates should not be used for anything more than a guide for new customers at time of order
