New Modem/Router and PPP settings

Hi All

Finally Iv decided on a modem/Router after looking and looking for many months And although its not a expensive one (at £90) or one of the latest releases. But will do all I need

Now to the question. Iv been with Plusnet for well over 12 years now and as far back as I can remember That whilst using Broardband ADSL I have always had to use PPPoA But when this set itself up it has used PPPoE BUT!! is working and running fine and since I put in the latest firmware I am still getting the same D/L speeds.. Can any one please clarify which one I should be using.
And if it should be PPPoA why is this still working with these settings?

Are we talking ADSL2+ or FTTC?

ADSL2+ supports both PPPoA and PPPoE on the BT Wholesale network, and many modems check for PPPoE first as its more popular around the world.

Yes its on ADSL . So would you say its OK to leave it on PPPoE?

Iv just found out that the modem has been disconnecting on and off through out the time its been on I only found out as it did it while I was using it..And I looked at the Sys log and saw all the disconnects?
Do you think it could be the PPPoE thats causing it?
Or do you think I should set the modem up from the start again as it set itself up last time automatically?

this is what the last couple of disconnects looked like in the log,

But you are not using Ethernet on the WAN side, are you?

It'll cost nowt to try out PPPoA.
