Re: PlusNet and FTTP

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Provoked by this thread I looked up my exchange on Sam Knows to find that it is now saying FTTP is available. I rang Plusnet and support told me they don't offer it. I quoted the PN Rep message above and the support guy took the trouble to contact LinnPlusnet. The answer came back as. Yes the trial is still on going and accepting new people, however Sam knows was being misleading and anyone who currently has FTTC (like me) is unlikely to find that they can get FTTP.

Pity I was hoping to solve the dodgy connection/wire problem that is limiting my service a little.

Do you mean FTTPoD?

Real FTTP not FTTPoD

BT Infinity Option 1 and Evening and Weekend Calls = £19.15 pm with 20GB cab
Line rental - £15.99pm

Add ons

BT Answer 1571 - £1.75pm
Caller display - £1.75pm

Total - £38.64pm

Need to contact BT to discuss options i.e. cost once cap is removed, but will be more interesting to find out what retention deal they could offer me

Hi Linn

I'm on FTTP currently with FVA (Fibre Voice Access)

I'll be in touch via PM with the details in the next few days

Correct

When I first agreed to go on the FVA trial with BT, I wanted to know what I was getting into so got hold of the relevant SIN's

I'm sure I saw some on the PlusNet community forums on Bradwell Abbey exchange who were on FVA, but that might have been people on BT posting there or the BT community forums

smile

It was Dave Tomlinson @ PlusNet who told me my postcode was live

BT said when they contacted me that I would lose BE and I didn't want to leave BE at the time. This was before the Sky buyout was announced

They contacted me a few months later re: the FVA trial and I asked twice if I could keep BE (my other broadband to BT) and they said yes in response both times.

It was supposed to be simple - copper in the hybrid cable so was just supposed to be split albeit with a different phone number. It was all fine for a few weeks until the line was ceased

BT placed the wrong order for provisioning with a PSTN cease instead of what it was supposed to be

They could not reverse it within eCo being a completely new trial at that stage

Still not convinced BT systems can cope with it even now and it's nearly 2 years - BT support certainly can't

I know people (incl me) have asked in the past and been told it's not something PN can offer at the moment. I am pretty sure this will not have changed.

They would need a completely different product from BTw (SIP Trunking).

Given how the data trial has not even progressed into a launched product yet, I can't see how the will offer FVA.

I think that is a little costly at the moment.

Double checked with Plusnet today - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,1264...

As expected, do not offer FVA at present.
