Hi,
I have a home in a rural location which is served by an exchange that is only enabled for ADSL Max (There is no ADSL2/2+ and no hint of fibre yet). BT is the sole provider (no LLU etc).
What can PlusNet offer in this instance? I would ideally be looking for an unlimited product, but in the past this has been limited, I believe, to exchanges where ADSL2+ was available?
Has this now changed?
In addition, what I may do is get an additional telephone line installed for this, again, what do PlusNet offer from a brand new line perspective? On a new line I would consider using PlusNet for the line rental aspect too.
Thanks in advance,
Marcus

Other than the ADSL only speeds and the higher price since outside the low cost area believe the full unlimited range is available.

It's unlimited.
12-month contract £17.49pm if taken with Plusnet line rental and calls, £19.99pm without.
One-month terms £19.99pm if taken with Plusnet line rental and calls, £22.49pm without.
Broadband setup charge without line rental is £25 on a 12-month term, £50 for monthly terms. With line rental and calls it is free on a 12-month term, £25 on monthly.
If you take the "free" router there is a £5.99 P & P charge.
A new line is £49.99.
Don't forget to look at Quidco and TopCashBack.

it would appear so - you must have been multi-tasking

I too live in an area covered by what's known as a "Market 1" exchange, and I've recently signed up for PlusNet's unlimited broadband and home phone services.
The basic monthly price is £9.99 for the first twelve months, then £17.49 (i.e. you get a £7.50 discount for the first twelve months).
I have to say I resent paying a premium simply because BT haven't yet upgraded my exchange, but other than moving house, what can one do?

The premium is not because BT have not upgraded but because other operators have chosen not to compete with BT at the exchange. Blame Sky and TalkTalk for not considering your exchange worth unbundling.
And if they have unbundled then blame Ofcom for only updating classifications occasionally. Either way it isn't actually BT in this case.

I resent paying a premium simply because BT haven't yet upgraded my exchange Even if BT had upgraded your exchange to WBC ADSL2+ it'll still be Market 1 and therefore dearer from PN.

Strange. No LLU, in fact just like the OP's.
Odd that you managed to get those prices. You much have a magic touch .
Not so sure ...
I started from this page https://portal.plus.net/home-broadband/ which talks about unlimited broadband and calls from £2.49pm. If you hit "Start Your Order", it asks for postcode and phone number, and in my case (I can't repeat it now, because I'm already signed up) it came back and said £17.49pm less £7.50pm making £9.99pm.
Have you been down this route?

No, I haven't. But the price list is quite clear, and this is how things have been in principle literally for years.

Plusnet can offer what you've been told.
HOWEVER BT have some great deals too
See: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/broad...
£8 for 6 months, then £16 for unlimited broaband. Does beat plusnet price wise right now.
Free connection too. So if a new lines required you will get that.

According to the page for which you have given the link, the price for "Outside low cost areas - Fixed term - Broadband & Phone" is £17.49, whch is in line with the numbers I quoted ...

Try the Post office. Unlike Plusnet they do not appear to discriminate against what were know as Market 1 exchanges.

Try the Post office. Unlike Plusnet they do not appear to discriminate against what were know as Market 1 exchanges. Same old nonsense that many people believe.
Plusnet do not charge extra in Market 1. They give discounts in M2 and M3. As is obvious when comparing their prices with every other ISP.

To expand slightly they are pretty much the only ISP that passes on the lower wholesale costs of operating in M2/3 exchanges to the individual consumer.

I've discovered that there are exchanges listed on SamKnows (and other places such as the map on here) as not having LLU, which actually have TalkTalk available. I found this with my own exchange when I put in my telephone number to the Andrews and Arnold checker and found connection via TalkTalk wholesale was available.

Samknows relies on them being notified. Some providers only notify them annually :-/
