Line Rental Saver - Doesn't include free weekend calls

Switched to plus.net a few months ago and was happy with the performance and savings over BT. Didn�t really want to move my line, but would have missed out on the 6 month discount, £2.50 monthly discount for having a phone and pay an activation charge. Oh and less cashback.

Just noticed I�ve been billed for weekend calls, thankfully been using my mobile mostly and it came to less than £10.

Turns out LRS doesn�t include any free calls and you can�t add a call plan. Where as BT LRS does.

Didn�t see anyone else mention this, so maybe it�s clear to most people.

Anyway don�t get caught out like I did!

Full details are given on the Plusnet web site when ordering where you are also given the opportunity to add a call plan.

I am lucky enough to have LRS from when it did include evening and weekend calls, therefore it continues to do so on renewal. Which reminds me,it's up for renewal on 25th December and I need to decide whether to renew it or jump ship to Zen line rental.

Will it cause your FTTC cost to rise if you ditch the phone?

I'm all right on £19.99 and phone elsewhere as I took it before the "bundled prices" came in.

I'm not sure, I still need to check it out. I've also got an email offer of £16.50 a month for the FTTC if I re-contract and it's not entirely clear whether this is conditional on taking the Line Rental, but I suspect it is.

I'm pretty sure it will cause the FTTC price to rise by £2.50.

It was. Anyway I've renewed the LRS and accepted the new 18-month FTTC contract in exchange for a £3.49 a month discount. It only took 6 minutes to get through to customer support, pretty good.

Thanks for sharing this, especially about the short waiting time.

I was also wondering about jumping to Zen, so this news may very well make me change my mind and consider re-contracting with Plusnet
