Why?

I've just spent the last half an hour trying to find out what is saturating my connection causing high pings on my BQM...

As you can see from around 8:20 this morning my latency has been pretty high, and from that graph one would think something was saturating the upstream of my connection but I couldn't find anything... so then I logged into my router and renewed the PPP session thinking it might be "another" Plusnet router issue... but in this case it was not... so I though restart modem...

That sorted it!

So why did this happen, how often is this going to happen...

I must say while my FTTC connection has been a big improvement over my previous, I'm getting rather annoyed with these silly little issues that are fixable with a restart... but then were told not to restart equipment connected to xDSL lines as it can trigger the DLM and the other lazy boy technologies.

Its one reason why I prefer the separate VDSL modem (openreach white box) and router. I can restart the router without affecting the line sync - although BT and TalkTalk users cannot.

Which modem do you have and do you know the cabinet type?

I do have separate modem and router setup..

Current setup is in sig, Cabinet is Huawei 288

My issue was with the modem it seems as router didn't require restarting.

It looks to me on both your f8lure and BQM graphs that it stopped before you rebooted the modem.

So the issue was with Plusnet routers then as the smaller no response was me disconnecting and reconnected the PPP session...

which I'm having to do a few times a week now to sort issues.

Getting rather annoying!

But jumping gateways fixes the issues and congestion on BT's network which I'm assuming would be at cabinet or node level wouldn't be fixed by me renew PPP session.

And some of us don't notice any "congestion" effects. There is something _odd_ going on.

I hope it gets sorted soon and doesn't involve me complaining and trying to get my contract waived and moving elsewhere.

It's really the only thing that's annoying me about Plusnet, other than that it's OK.

Kitz posted a graph yesterday on the PN forum showing all of the pipes as at saturation pint. Some of the pipes were at their limit (8 I think)
