Max upload speed on 40Mb fibre

My Sky discount has expired so was thinking of moving to Plusnet, primarily as it would be cheaper. The website seems to suggest that the upload speed on the 'Up to 38Mb' FTTC service is capped at 1.9Mb. See here, click on the arrow beside "Show details". On Sky I sync at 39956 down and 9999 up. I have seen 10000 in the past.

The 76Mb option shows the max upload as 19.5Mb which is what I would expect. Is the quoted max upload speed for 38Mb wrong? Or is it capped?

I expected to see similar figures to Sky.

2Mb is the correct figure, yes - it is not a typo. They actually provision a 40/2 service, and no longer offer 40/10 - it's either 40/2 or 80/20.

Well I could read hundreds of posts, but it all boils down to the fact that 40/2 is cheaper for Plusnet on a wholesale level.

I'm on 40/20 and actually get between 5-6mbps upload. Would that mean around 0.5mbps upload if extrapolated to 40/2 I wonder.....

No.

But 40/10 would give you exactly what you have now.

Yes, that's what I thought. I'd drop to 40/10 quite happily.

I was being frivolous when perhaps I shouldn't - the last few days have seen me pulling out what little hair I've still got and then laughing and crying in turn. I don't want to tempt fate but last night and this morning things seemed to be improving and enabling QOS on my router seems to be having a calming effect as well. Fingers crossed!
