A little wry humour

[link to this post]

Normally I wouldn't post this in this particular forum, but it may amuse you as much as it amused me.

It's about the election of Tim Farron as the new leader of the Lib Dems.
Mr Clegg tweeted: "It's a tough job but the best in politics. I know Tim will do us proud".
That should but the mockers on Farron!

Coincidentally perhaps, Clegg is a Sheffield MP.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

Well you could always have an MP like this whining little twit in Bournemouth .....

http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/13424012.UPDAT...

How the heck does he think the ordinary people and pensioners in this country manage?

These MP's are all the same, chinless spolit wimps and totally out of touch with reality.

I got a feeling Clegg just signed up for 12 months free broadband offer. Look forward reading his rants in the Feedback section of Plusnet forums. smile

They are not "all the same" and it rather depresses me that anyone thinks that way about our democracy.

Not all the same - some are worse than others. Democracy is good - those practising it that cause concerns 8^)

That is true but when one MP tries to claim 9p for a 300yrd drive then the rest get tarred with the same brush. Just like the banks, MPs (some) have not learned by the previous mistakes of others.

It is an interesting case that expenses claim.

He says he claims because he visits a number of places in one session and therefore is more efficient to take the car to the place than to leave it and walk back.

The question is how much does it cost to process a 9p expenses claim. I bet it is significantly more than 9p. Does it really need to be broken down - surely if he is visiting 5 places then a single claim for total mileage listing the 5 places should be sufficient rather than 5 small claims?

Something isn't right with this but it may not be the obvious conclusion that we all draw when we see the headline.

It's all a bit sad really. How long would it take to walk a few hundred metres? Exercise and fresh air would benefit the MP.

But he would have to walk 300m there. Do a 5 minute chat. Walk 300m back. Then get in the car, drive to the next location. Do a 5 minute chat. etc etc.

If he had 2 houses he was visiting about 300m apart then it does make sense to drive between them as it is quicker than walking and quite possibly would be visiting another place later further on. I still think the problem is he is being far too granular in his reporting and if we saw the actual stops he made on that trip it may have made perfect sense to drive between a couple of them that were close together as part of a much bigger set of visits.

Doubt if Cleggie knows where either of them are except at election time. Him and the party got what they deserved, as I predicted 5 years ago in the Lib Dem news. Back to having their annual outing in a taxi, never again will I canvass or vote for them.

And PN may as well be in Timbuktu when it comes to contacting them.

I'd rather not pay for his expense claim at all. MPs are well paid and are getting a huge salary increase compaired to the rest of the country.

Linky, top left under the logo.

There have been a few hundred complaints in the Plusnet forums, possibly even into four figures, and quite a few in this one, about the recent huge restriction in the availability of CS, the emasculation of the forum reps, the dropping of the 40/20 FTTC in favour of 40/2 at the same price, the increasing number of gross mistakes being made in FTTC provision, and the September rental and call price rises.

The slogan has been cynically quoted many many times. For Clegg to use it struck me as amusing smile. YMMV.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
