New Modem/Router

I have posted this question on the Plusnet forum but sometimes I feel that the question is answered here more quickly and I tend to be impatient.
New Modem/router to replace OR/Plusnet set-up on Fibre.
Was getting around16/3.4 but no idea of the sync.
With the new Bipac 8800AXL I can see that I have synced reliably for a couple of days at 23791/3609.
The BTWholesale test gives me 16.68/3.24 with a profile of 17.42.
Shouldn't I be able to get around 23 down?
Will the profile automatically rise or do Plusnet need to do something?

From my Plusnet site I have -

The Current line speed by Plusnet is correct for the BT IP Profile.

What exactly does the line in the stats with the 23791/3609 call itself? Possibly something like Max attainable?

I just pulled this from the User Manual of the 8800AXL

"Attainable Rate (Kbps): The sync rate you would obtain.
Rate (Kbps): Show the downstream and upstream rate in Kbps."

That's great.

Unfortunately whoever put "Attainable Rate (Kbps): The sync rate you would obtain" where you found it is wrong when it comes to FTTC/VDSL2. I think it's a reasonable thing to say on ADSLx.

The "Rate" line is your sync, and directly gives the IP Profile of 17.42Mbps. IP Profile = Rate x 0.9679 on lines that don't have G.INP active, and Rate x 0.9669 on lines that do. Yours clearly doesn't have G.INP active.

If you have been checked a few times, as your OP implies, I would expect the Attainable to vary a little each time you look, but the Rate would only change on a re-sync.

However even on FTTC, rate and Attainable can be similar. My rate is normally a little higher that attainable - many other people see the same. I'll just get mine ...

Max: Upstream rate = 13866 Kbps, Downstream rate = 57900 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 14372 Kbps, Downstream rate = 59999 Kbps

The big difference in yours will be down to either Interleaving being on, or the sync having been capped by the DLM for some reason. I suspect capping, just as I suspect mine is, but just at the moment don't have the table of capping speeds available.

It would have been nice to squeeze another few bytes of Downstream but to be honest, for how I use it, it would be wasted.
