Plusnet slowness/congestion this morning? 2Mbps singlethread

Overnight my connection dropped - it's usually very reliable holding up for many days without issue - the only time it seems to disconnect is when Plusnet (or BT's main network?) is forcing something like PN balancing their connections. Usually when I see any slowness it seems to be congestion at Plusnet and changing to another gateway magically solves it, which always makes me think it's a problem at Plusnet.

A speed test carried out on TBB just now shows a really bad 2Mbps for the single thread, and 62.5Mbps (which is still 'slow' for my connection) on the x6 HTTP test

The upload speed is up and down all over the place too, which I presume is the congestion kicking in too.

Any thoughts as to where the likely problem is based on the above info? Is it a local issue such as my nearest cabinet, the exchange, a wider problem with Plusnet in general today, or that specific gateway - which I've never seen as one of their gateways that I've connected through before.

Can't really help you I'm afraid, but can confirm I'm seeing the same latency and packet loss from 8am this morning that your graph shows (I'm on Plusnet also).

Exactly the same symptoms starting at 8am today as well. Currently using a BT OR ECI modem and Draytek 2920

FTTC was synching at 60/20 and had been rock steady (no drops in many weeks)

I may try turning the Modem off for 5 minutes and then a reboot to see if I can get another Gateway (which normally as you say tends to resolve things)

The problem seemed to solve itself around 12:40 when the packetloss went completely and the latency dropped back down to normal. Trhoughout video streaming in HD was working fine, yet browsing the web was feeling worse than being on dial up.

Does seem odd both of you had the same shape ping graph, even with the same drops in latency/packetloss at the same time in between bad packetloss. I can only presume something in the Plusnet network not working correctly for a few hours earlier today.
