got a plusnet sim

I decided to try this plusnet mobile, £7.50 for 1000 mins, 2GB of data, 1GB normaly and unlimited text seems a good deal.
I got the sim yesterday, activated today and have stuck it in my phone, we will see how it works in places where Vodafone fails, I still have my old sim in an old basic phone.

If all goes well, I will phone vodafone, get my pac and port my number over to plusnet.
since plusnet mobile is separate to their broadband and you do not really get any special deal for having both it means i am not not locked into anything as my broadband minimum contract is up and plusnet mobile is only a 30 day rolling contract.

Don't you get double the data ?

His post did say 2GB, 1GB normally - I'm wondering if he realised that deal was just for Plusnet users?

They have had some offers on the website, which made it unclear, possible the offer was the same as the "mates rates" when you have PN broadband.

I am assuming it also just uses EE?

LIFEmobile users moving across now have access to 4G signals. Just no WiFi Calling or 4G Calling (VoLTE) yet.

That is normal for the offer, i do not think that have anything to do with me being a broadband customer,they have something called mate rates, what ever that is.

i have got a problem with data, for some reason mine do not work, I reset the settings and even done them manually and it do not work. i have heard that some sims are faulty, so maybe mine is, i will phone them tomorrow.

Also, the signal for EE at my mates place is awful, but then so is every other network for some reason and yet he lives only a five mins walk from the centre of town.

Confused me. I have a closed account for Life mobile on my credit file, only now it says Plusnet Mobile and I was about to hit the fraud button when I realised the name has changed.

Problem for me is, I never got a sim with Life Mobile. I cancelled 5 minutes after I ordered via USwitch - but still got it on my credit file, even though they told me they didn't do a credit check!

Data is now working using old sim, they did send me a new sim but when i phoned to have it activated, they told me they found a problem and was working on it.

So old sim and Data is now working on it.
We will see how things go.

Things seems ok with plusnet mobile, still a naf signal at my mates place and at work, but that happens with what ever network I use.
I have now got my pac from Vodafone, they done me some offers, but all more expensive than what plusnet is and stick me into another 12 month contract.

Mobile network providers can supply a "network" device that you plug into an Internet connection that allows a local mobile phone signal boost. We have requested these boxes in a few locations and they fixed the issue. You have to pay for the internet access though.

No need for a box on Vodafone, you can use wifi-calling instead of 3G/4G

I'm pretty sure you can do that on plusnet too. My wife got a SIM this week and I enabled wifi calling without any problems.

EE did this first in 2016, with iPhone 5c and later handsets, and a collection of Androids with EE firmware, and the service does both SMS and voice.

Vodafone were late 2016 and only support iPhone 6s and later, and a very limited set of Androids. They only support voice, no SMS.

Three launched this very recently and are the same as EE.

O2 don't yet support.

This of course is different to O2 and Three's apps, or Vodafone's SureSignal 'box' (femtocell) offering that plugs into a power socket and ethernet cable to your router and provides a 3G signal.

WiFi Calling may well be enabled on the phone that uses the plusnet mobile network, but does it work using the Network. I understood this wasn't possible yet. (it doesn't on mine I have the plusnet monthly contract and an EE purchased phone)

Or do you mean your Broadband Network is Plusnet but your Phone is on a different network.

our broadband is via BT but you're right we've not been able to test it yet - the signal hadn't dropped low enough with wifi available to see if actually works.

I figured the fact it enabled without error (on Vodafone if the service isn't available it'll fail when you try to enable it) meant it would work.

I find if I turn off mobile data on the phone then it starts to use wifi calling

On EE if WiFi calling is enabled and you are in WiFi coverage (without a firewall blocking) then you will see "EE WiFi Call" on iPhones and similar on Androids. Even with good coverage.

Vodafone and Three have it set up so that you have to lose cellular signal before WiFi calling kicks in, but EE have it set up to always take the calls (and SMS) over WiFi. This reduces load on the cellular network.

I don't think PlusNet offer WiFi calling - your phone may let you turn on the option, but unless you see "WiFi call" after the network name, or equivalent, it is likely just an option that is ignored.

I don't know about Vodafone, but on my iPhone on Three you don't have to lose signal entirely, Wifi calling kicks in when you have around 2 bars of signal.

Thanks my corporate Vodafone account doesn't get wifi calling! Corporate are always last.
