Do John Lewis offer line rental saver option?

Considering a move to John Lewis ( probably ADSL ) and wondering - what with the PlusNet connection - whether they offer a saver / pay-up-front option on line rental?

Don't think LRS is an option when they are selling unlimited broadband and line rental plus eve and w/e free calls for just £20.00 a month, cheaper than Plusnet when you don't live in a low cost area and cheaper than the retention offer prior to switching.

Yes, they seem to be a great deal for people in a more expensive area (e.g. compared to PlusNet) - or folk who make a lot of phone calls.

Thought I'd ask anyway, as I know the existence of the PlusNet LRS is not easy to detect from their broadband homepage.

Just had a look at that page - "Freephone 24/7, UK customer support". So is it not PlusNet who provide the support I wonder.

One of the support staff (Complaints Advisor) I was speaking to at the start of the week has been with Plusnet for four years.

It's plusnet uk support with the same quality of service.

One of the problems with Plusnet LRS is that the length I was offered was for a year but the BB contract was for 18 months. As I knew I was very likely to leave at the end of the contract I just had to pay the normal line rental fro the last 6 months.

Some ISPs offer 18 month LRS.

I thought PlusNet dropped 24/7 support in 2015 (not that it bothers me particularly) so it just seemed odd.

I've had the same issue with PlusNet in the past, with them not adapting the LRS to the length of contract. Even more irksome when they've raised the line rental since your contract started. wink

But now I've finally got my yearly renewal synced with Black Friday, an 18-month contract is a bit of a dealbreaker for me. That's one of the main reasons John Lewis & Talk Talk appeal.

One of the good things about regular price rises is that when they raise the price you can leave. And if you have broadband and LRS on different contract lengths then they have to refund the LRS as part of leaving (Ofcom ruled on that a little while ago). It means that at least once a year you have a get out of jail free card even with non-coterminus contracts.

Now that is interesting.

Having said that my Plusnet contract is only for 12 months, which is a little odd given that most seem to be pushing the 18 month ones these days.
