I am on fibre (40/10) and was looking for a better deal but have tried both sky and bt
and both say I cannot get fibre with them
why when I already have it

Is your cabinet fully occupied?

Sky might not have kit at your exchange. As for BT god knows unless it's as Bob says and your cab is full. Even then it shouldn't stop a migration?

A migration of FTTC when the cabinet is full is known to almost always cause loss of FTTC.

As soon as the user's connection is terminated in order to connect to the new ISP the next on the waiting list gets that connection. Leaving the original user bereft and at the bottom of the list.

Several posters on these forums have suffered this.

The OP needs to check his number on the BT Wholesale site and report back what it says.

already tried number in bt site and said all i could have is broadband but not fibre

What do you mean by "bt site"? If you mean BT Retail, forget that. As nitro93 says, it's the VDSL lines in that link (the same as mine) that we need to know.
