My local cab (which is about 30m away) is now taking orders for both GFAST and FTTP but I've another 3 months left of an 18 month contract with PlusNet. Seems to be very little info out there as to if / when PN MIGHT start to offer a service so has anyone got any info at all?
A few people nearby are already getting the service via BT and while I'm reluctant to jump away from PN If there are no offerings on the horizon then come Feb / March time I'll be looking to migrate away.
Shape yourselves PN, a few of us want a bit of extra speed
plusnet 4/11/2003 -> 4/3/2009 512Kb-2Mb
O2 Standard LLU 4/3/2009 -> 23/6/2009 ~3Mb O2 Access 13/7/2009 -> 22/6/2010 ~8Mb
plusnet 22/6/2010 -> 04/04/2014 ~8MB
plusnet 04/04/2014 -> ?? ~76Mb FTTC

Are you sure it offers FTTP, as opposed to FTTPoD? They arent the same thing pricewise.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests 35-45Mpbs down, 9-15 up.

My bad, yes, FTTPoD, I'd only actually looked at GFAST tbh and that's what others have had installed nearby.

TBH youre more likely to spot a flying pig than Plusnet ever offering you FTTPoD

PN won't have G.Fast on their product from BT Wholesale. You are better off order g.fast elsewhere, different service provider who has G.Fast on it.

Nice predicted speeds there - there must be old jumper wire off cuts and used crimps right up to your front door.

That looks good as my cab is 100M away and I get the full FTTC speed when I use it - so I am hoping if G.fast ever gets here then it will be about the same - it's on cabs a mile away but I am on the wrong exchange which sucks

PN won't have G.Fast on their product from BT Wholesale. Why not? EE, a sister company, do.
1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC

If they don't it could be a marketing thing. Plusnet are the cheap and cheerful brand.
No technical reason.
BT need to work out what they are doing with PN. No FTTP or G.fast yet. Need to either implement those or leave the brand behind, which would likely upset those people with referral credits and discounts.

Your exchange, alongside Chartist, Maesglas, Caerleon, Rhiwderen, Llanwern, Risca, Penhow, Magor, Tredunnock and potentially more are all parented from Newport, so enabling of any cabinets on those or Newport, Gwent, indicate the headend capacity is there.
Your exchange also has a couple of cabinet areas that have native FTTP delivered via Huawei kit.
Openreach seem to prefer FTTP in more affluent areas for obvious reasons, areas that are less affluent but have a reasonably dense cluster of properties close to the cabinet are a good bet for G.fast.

Plusnet is the brand to face-off with talktalk, so little in the way of thrills
EE is the younger mobile customers
BT is the all singing dancing

Happy Christmas guys/gals.
FTTP has become available today in my area. (Christmas present!).

I'm with PlusNet as well, shame they don't offer FTTP or g.Fast, would have to look for another provider now.
ISP: PlusNet: Downstream rate = 79999 Kbps - Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps. Ping: 11ms.
Line Stats: Line attenuation Down: 7.8db Up: 8.7db
Stechford (CMSTE) Cab 24 - Funded Privately (Community Partnership).
Birmingham Fibre First Program: FTTP (CBT) installed on poles.

In which case givem TalkTalk do gFast, where is Plusnet...

TalkTalk are still very selective in who they offer G.fast to.
It's never been available to me on their website although other suppliers can (and one does) provide it at my address.

plusnet have been left behind on ipv6 as well it seems.

Yep. I'm leaving PlusNet for BT. I placed order for the Ultra fast fibre 2 plus package.
ISP: PlusNet: Downstream rate = 79999 Kbps - Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps. Ping: 9ms.
Line Stats: Line attenuation Down: 7.8db Up: 8.7db
Stechford (CMSTE) Cab 24 - Funded Privately (Community Partnership).
Birmingham Fibre First Program: FTTP - Order placed for the BT Ultra fast fibre 2 plus package - 330Mb down 50Mb up.

I would love G.Fast too as I am about 20-30 meters from my cab and as my luck always has it, the G.Fast pod arrived (and orders now being accepted according to BTW) about 2 weeks after I moved from BT back to PN. I still have 12 months left on my contract though before I will be able to look elsewhere (unless PN wake up and provide it as a product by then).

PN are always behind on many things for some reason. Can't wait to leave PN in 10 months time as PN are going downhills lately with serious billing issues, very bad support with lack of no experience, short staffs etc.
|
|
|
But in the end you always stay with them adslmax, as you say you get some remarkable retention deals.
Some relative newcomers may not know your history , especially on forecasting what suppliers will do and what will happen to them.

You gonna be joking me about remarkable retention deals as they mess up with referral scheme missing and not billed me yet since October.
More important I want the better support with billing invoice on time but sadly they went from good to worse now. Will be leaving in ten months time.

You'll be fine. They'll throw discounts at you like sweets again when renewal time comes and you should be all set.

No chance. Not this time. Time to move elsewhere. As u know my past history of migration away too many times but I was surprise myself as I didn't move to any isp for a very long time probably over 12 years now.

Very funny as I am still with PN for FTTC. Cos PN haven't billed me since 2018. The first payment are going to be next month (about time!) 16 months of free broadband, line only.
