Upgrading from adsl to fibre?

[link to this post]

I'm a PN customer and I'm adsl2+. And it works fine. But I saw they had a deal for fibre at £23.50pm and no activation costs, which is less than I'm paying now (although I'm billed for £25pm, it shows £29.98 for some reason). So I decided to do the upgrade. I clicked on the package and it took me to the deal, but the price had jumped to £29.99. Which is more than what is originally advertised.

Doesn't PN do the same deals for existing customers as they would for new ones?

Are you sure the pricing is not to do with being out of the low cost area?

If in a low cost area then the small print which seems to say price is for new customers may be the cause

It doesn't say anything about low cost areas.

So it would be for new customers only. I thought that I read somewhere that this practice was going to stop.
Or is that some other thing my decrepid brain is remembering?

www.johnlewisbroadband.com is provided by plusnet. If you switch to the "re-badged" service you will qualify for any "new customer" discount they may be offering.

No missive from anyone like Ofcom stopping this practice.

Some providers for a while made their latest offers open to others, but stepped back a bit from this to some extent (thinking of TalkTalk)

They also have the same price everywhere and so can be cheaper than Plusnet in areas where Plusnet charge more. The exchange I am connected to was reclassified a few months ago so I now have a Plusnet FTTC service that over 18 months is slightly cheaper than Vodafone.

I'm in a so called low cost area, my upgrade price, from ADSL2+ with line rental saver works out at £27/month for the standard fibre

BT £29/month ( just £2 more )
Talk Talk 22.45 (£55 cheaper after 12 months)
Sky £22.50

You may be thinking of insurance where it has been said IIRC it should stop voluntarily or regulation will be made.
