Samsung software update server

[link to this post]

FYI, over the last few days there seems to be an issue connecting to the Samsung software update server from an android device, when using wifi/Plusnet, they have been made aware.
As others i know can connect from other ISPS and it works over a 3/4g data connection. So i assume some kind of DNS issue is going on.

It's not the old Plusnet geo-location issue is it?

Plusnet have a range of IP addresses they got from a former US provider. They frequently cause issues with services that use geo-location as they are still reported as US addresses by some geo-location providers.

There is a long thread on the Plusnet forum about this causing issues with corporate VPNs

It could be that the Samsung server thinks you're in the USA. The solution is to power your router off for an hour or so and hope you get an IP from one of their other ranges.

From what I remember IP addresses which start with 5x or 8x are unaffected. All the affected addresses start with numbers above 100.

Sounds reasonable, pretty shabby to be honest if it is this. Seems to be fixed for me at least for the meantime.
