Porting number from Sky SoGEA to Plusnet

[link to this post]

I am currently with Sky and moving [back] to Plusnet. However, as expected from various threads, I have received a txt message today saying my number is not active so need to take a new number. I have explained this is a number currently on a SoGEA connection, so I hope they can resolve this.

Please share any more tips if you'd suggest more action on my side. Cheers.

Sky's only solution has been reverting the number to PSTN to allow it to be migrated out.

Good luck. Hopefully you can find a decent Sky rep who has dealt this this kind of thing already.
If not you may find yourself explaining the same thing over and over to a dozen people before you get a resolution.

I feel that's quite likely, but live in hope that it's getting easier and easier as time ticks by wink!

Update on the ticket confirms PN have "imported my existing number", so ready to go in a couple of weeks apparently smile.

I am so pleased laugh!

After all the anticipation (panic), I can confirm everything changed over smoothly today without a glitch - well almost no glitch.

My Sky connection died at 2:45pm, but the new Plusnet router hadn't arrived yet. No problem, I have a Netgear D7000v2, and in fact my old Plusnet Hub One - which I was ready to use. I was on a call from 3pm, and the postman delivered my new Hub One router just as that started (weird he was so late, even weirder that PN left it so late to send out).

At 4pm, I try the line with my analogue phone - it's alive. 17070 reveals a different allocated number. 5pm txt from PN "you phone line is ready", and 17070 revealed my number had been ported. Great.

Plugged in router, no broadband service. Switched off. 7pm got a txt "your broadband service is ready". Fired up router again, internet is alive smile.

I was worrying about Sky SoGEA, cabinet capacity, lost service, all the stuff that you wonder 'is it worth risking', but happily it seems to have migrated totally fine.

The sync seems a little different than my records indicate from the past: 76.34 dn / 20 up, but actuall speed/throughput seems good:
