FTTP Woes

[link to this post]

Firstly I would like to say this is no fault of Plusnets.
5 years ago when I moved to my place, a Vermin media engineer pushed the Openreach internal cable back into the hole to may was for their cable.
Because of this Openreach had to get permission from the council to dig up the front path to run 6ft of trunking.
This was a complete nightmare which eventually took 6 weeks and BT paid for me to use an EE 4G modem until my FTTC was up and running.
Fast forward 5 years and when I discovered Plusnet were finally offering FTTP I decided to upgrade thinking it should be straight forward for them to run fibre cable, how wrong was I.
Yesterday a Kelly Communications engineer arrived to hook me up but he couldn't feed the cable through the trunking so all he could do was run the fibre cable to my place and install the ONT and he informed Openreach about the problem.
I knew Openreach wouldn't contact me so I contacted Plusnet.
The customer service lady has called me this morning to inform me that Openreach will sort it out on 17th July!
I told her this was unacceptable as I had to wait 5 weeks for the install and I wasn't prepared to wait another 2 weeks.
She's going to contact them and see what they can do.
If I waited a further 2 weeks, there is no way of knowing if they will be able to run the cable, I'd bet they won't bother looking at the case file and there will be further more delays.
I'm now thinking it's time to bite the bullet and go with Virgin as they can have me up and running within a week, albeit slightly more expensive.
I just don't have the confidence in Openreach anymore because they messed about dragging their heels getting the permission to dig up the path in the first place (I fully understand it takes time for a council to give permission). But it was their delay in contacting the council that was the problem.
