Rolling 30 day contract?

[link to this post]

Has anyone had any luck with retentions getting a sensible price with a rolling contract?

My deal ends in about 6 weeks and I’ll go up to £48.

Plusnet can only offer me a 12 month term which I don’t want as I’m holding out for virgin media to roll out here.

I don't know of many companies that would do reduced pricing for a rolling contract - reduced pricing as far as I know is always as a result of a commitment, normally to at least 12 months but often to 18 or 24. The whole idea is the company or giving a discount in order to give them a stable known income for a period of time.

I get that but the £48 is an artificially high price.

Until recently prices simply stayed the same when your contract finished or went up £2-3 not 66% increase.

I’d be happy to stick with plusnet and don’t need their cheapest deal, just something sensible. They then keep my revenue between now and when virgin media arrive.

Alternatively I can migrate to Now TV and pay £23 a month for no contract (£60 fee for modem)

Just checked mine and it says:
Unlimited Fibre Extra inc. Line rental £25.13
(after contract ends £47.54)

So much the same. I won't need to go onto a rolling contract so I definitely won't be paying that but it is a silly price.

Do you know what the early termination fee might be if you did have a 12 month contract?

It’s about £15 a month.

The agent suggested a 12 month contract and paying the early fee if I want to leave.

Any of the ISPs offering one-month contracts worth a look? There will be transfer or set-up costs but it would then give you the flexibility of walking when you want.

Pulse8 comes highly recommended (I used them for a while) and is currently £36 pm with no transfer/setup fee and a monthly contract.

I’ve not found many offering a sensible price and a 30 day contract.

My current option is nowtv for £23 a month.

I can get no contract for £60 upfront or £0 upfront for £12 months.

There’s offers via top cash back that make this 2nd option appealing.
