Plusnet Recommending Someone

[link to this post]

When you go through the online order process it says

'Did someone recommend you?'

then goes on to say

'If someone pointed you in our direction, let us know so we can give them a discount'

Does anyone know what this discount amounts to?

What you get on PlusNet referrals depends (or at least it used to) on what service the new account is for i.e. how much the new customer is paying. I think my two referrals reduce my bill by around £3 which is credited to my account reducing my monthly payments. Presumably if you get to the stage where your referrals make more than the cost of your own service, then they start paying you smile

They get £1.25 per month discount for as long as you (and they) stay with Plusnet.

It used to be split: something like 75p for broadband and 50p for phone line rental.

I'm in much the same position as Matt. Broadband with Plusnet since 2002. Things went rather bad before the BT takeover c2007 (anyone remember the email loss fiasco?) and I've had some billing issues but overall I can't think of another low cost ISP I'd rather be with. Having about £12/month referral bonuses helps toosmile Of course I could pay more and get top notch support from Zen or AAISP but my next move could well be to Community Fibre when they pass my house.

My big gripe is with BT who told Plusnet to stop offering business broadband this year. I'm the treasurer of a charity and of course we went to Plusnet.. They made an error wit the final bill but one phonecall to a friendly Yorkshire person sorted that. I'm still fighting BT to get the billing correct.

Soliciting referrals on the forums is not acceptable.
