My neighbour moved to PlusNet recently and ordered 500Mbps FTTP. He used my referral link but then it turned out that he could only have 300Mbps. He had to start from scratch with a different account name. When he told me what had happened, I checked my account just to confirm that the referral had been applied to the new account which it had so all was in order.
It was the first time in a very long while that I'd looked at my referrals and I noticed that a friend's account had been removed from my referrals when she moved home in October 2021 even though she continued to be a PlusNet customer. The referral for my daughter's account has 'survived' two house moves so that was not the cause.
When I investigated, it turned out that PlusNet had made a total mess of my friends billing account when she moved to the extent that they gave up on it and insisted that she should start again with a new account name. When the new account was created, my referral was not added.
PlusNet say that referrals can only be added to an account during the first 90 days after it is created so I've lost it and there's nothing they can do about it. Notifications of referral cancellations are not sent.
