Apologies. I had no intention of going off topic. I simply asked a question.
Somehow (I and I still don't understand how or why), I seem to have offended.

I think somebody misunderstood somewhere. To the best of my own logic, it wasn't me.
As I say, sorry for whatever I did wrong.

There was nothing really wrong with the question, though it was a bit off topic.

It was the fact you asked xtermy why he left IDNet, when as far as we know he was never with them, then got all uppity about your superior experience of forums compared to the rest of us when that caused a bit of a stir.

Finally, censor avoidance came into it. So the post got zapped!

At least I can read and understand what you say.

Was my explanation of the links in the headers so difficult? Seeing as I was perfectly friendly about it when I explained, and you got so upset at the OP and others that you started talking about rudeness and then resorted to bad language?

I thought explaining to you what went wrong would be taken as friendly. If you want to take it as a bad attitude, there isn't much I can do about that.

That ^^^^^ shows you replying to xtermy.

That's where all the confusion kicked off. This was explained to you in a friendly helpful fashion, but you seem to have taken unwarranted umbrage .

EDIT: Also to add to the confusion, your intended Q of the OP was about migrating Fibre, whereas it is obvious that OP is on ADSL only.

Correct. That is where I made my initial mistake. For which I apologise.

I really shouldn't bother replying as I do appreciate that we are all collectively being rude to the original poster. If you want to start another thread, I will gladly slog it out there.

However, for the sake of record.
What I actually took "umbrage" to was the patronising comment "All posts have a reply button on these forums, so you can reply directly to the post you are on about, not just add a post at the end. You probably aren't used to it."
Which is why I replied in the same manner. (And like it or not, I probably have been on forums for a lot longer than most. And the bulletin boards before that, and uunet etc before that...... And I was very instigative in the original rollout of xDSL BB to the UK) None of which I would have needed to mention if above comment hadn't been unnecessarily made.

Indeed it was the same comment that encouraged me to reply in a subsequent post that RobertoS had a bad attitude.
The sad thing is, I could have potentially brought some alternative knowledge to these forums, just like in the good old days of "adslguide".

Whilst I'm sure this post will probably be deleted by the Mod' because I'm potentially upsetting your little gang, I hope you'll leave it long enough that my reply is at least temporarily visible.

It is for me to acknowledge whether my naivety has let me down.

Ummm! Shows how extensive your experience of discussion groups is. Post are never deleted solely for differences of opinion; only for breaking of site rules, like swearing. And I, personally, have no power to delete posts.

Remind me again. What swear word did I use? No really, I've forgotten.
I suspect however that I would have included wildcards "*" so as not to offend any delicate eyes.
